London Film and Comic Con 2014 and some random stuff.

There really is not a lot happening at the moment. 

The weather has sucked over the last few weeks and now i have come down with MAN flu. So what does that mean for the Vader Armour... unfortunately things have grinned to a halt, but all is not lost there is still time before the cons and where there is time there will always be hope. I have been looking at stills from the movies and looking at images on google so i think i am heading in the right direction with this armour project.

But being unable to focus on the Darth Vader i have been able to spend a little time playing a few games on the PS3 and looking at kickstarter. Now i have backed a few projects

I am looking forward to the Bubblegum and Kung Fury Blu-rays But it's the games that have really got me itching to hold a control pad. These will be on Steam. I have Steam and i look at it a lot but i have not got anything from it. I have not played a PC game since 2006. But before that i was a heavy PC gamer i started in 1996 with games like Wing Commander 3-5, Blood 2 The Chosen, Thief The Dark Age and a load of Star Trek and Star Wars games. But after about 2007 i just stopped playing and just went into console gaming. So who knows maybe these will bring me back in to the PC Master Race... Only joking. 

Also in other news my Tickets for the London Film and Comic Con can. So once i get my photo taken with Stan the man Lee i will post it here.... and twitter... and facebook... and google+.... and anywhere else i can think of as well. There is not much other news I would of liked to of written more but there's just not much happening at the moment apart from the London Super Comic Con next month. But more on that later well once i've been to it. So that's it for this post short and not to the point but what can i do... slow news week!

Darth Vader and other stuff...

Back to work after a long Christmas break and it feels like i have just as much if not less energy than i had before i went on holiday. Maybe three weeks was to long but it was my first Christmas off in TEN years so i'm not going to complain to much. But it's only my second week back... Not good. 

I did some gaming and i started watching Fringe... i love this show but it did end up eating up most of my final week as i marathoned it... So my holiday was not a total loss then.

OK So Darth Vader. I did start to do a few bits not a lot but it's a start and hopefully thing will progress faster in the coming weeks. But once all the work is done i am sure it will be great and i know it's not 100% screen accurate. But you know what... I am not going for that maybe later in a few years but for now i'm trying to do the Darth Vader i remember!!! OK let me explain. I remember Vader as a kind of idealized version an amalgamation of movie/toy's/comic. So when i was a kid back in the 1980's That's how i saw Vader and that is what i am trying to do with this costume or cosplay or what ever you call it... I just hope i don't lose a finger or two while doing this...

So i dusted the armour and and started to see what needed doing. I began with removing the speaker and batteries pack the chain and the shoulder bells. This was a lot harder than i had first thought. The screws were not the best and a couple broke while i was removing the bells. 

I had the bright idea of wanting to a chain hook on the armour so i found a picture hook... This will ether work or fail epicly... But lets be positive... 

I also need to decide if the new chain is attached to the cape or is part of the chest armour like the orginal chain was before i removed it.

On to the shoulder bells 

I drew and cut out a rough template of the shape i want the bells. Now this is done Cutting and shaping should not take to long. Once all that is done that will leave priming and painting. I want the chest to be a gloss black and grey with the bells being gloss black. Speaking of cutting I now have a chance to use this.

So till next time hopefully I will have more to say or have done more work. But even with baby steps i'm getting there. Slow and steady wins the race after all.... or so they say.  

London Comic Cons / Expo and Stan Lee 2014 is shaping up to be a good year

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and that are ready for the new year. I know i'm not...

Still can not believe it will be 2014 in a few days. Where did the year go. It feels like 2013 just started and now its almost over.

I am Sorry to say that i have not done as much work on the Vader chest armour as i would of liked and I have not touched my brothers Batman suit. I've been off for two weeks and have done very little.... I feel so lazy and ashamed. 

But on a brighter note.

I haven't been to the London Super Comic Con before and i am hoping it will be good. The videos on youtube do look promising and i have high hopes. I know i was a little disappointed with the cons this year but i have hope next year will be better. 

Though i am not sure about the London Expo. Sorry i know the MCM London Expo is now called the MCM London Comic Con but i have called it Expo for nearly ten years and i will carry on calling it Expo... But i really do hope that they have learnt from 2013 mistakes and the 2014 con will be better for everyone.  

It is the London Film and Comic Con (LFCC) that i am most excited about. They have Stan Lee Attending... This is EPIC news so i have got tickets for the Stan Lee talk and a photo. According to the LFCC web site this is the last time Stan Lee will be coming to a UK based convention. So it is an opportunity i can not miss. The talk the photo was pricey but in the end i think it will be well worth the money... Have a look and tell me what you think.

Also i am thinking of changing the blog background, colour or the title of the blog. I don't know yet but i do want to do something with it. Put my own stamp on it... To be honest i'm just fed up with looking at the purple background... 

 

Batman, Superman...Darth Vader... who am i kidding it's a Cosplay post!!!

Right. OK i know this post is  late but i have good reason. I have Christmas off. Not just that but a three week holiday. Now to get that i had to put in a boat load of hard work just to make sure that the department i work in was all up to date and there was no outstanding work that would need to be done. So now it is in the hands of my colleagues. We wish them luck.

So Merry Christmas and i hope everyone who reads this blog will have a Great New Year.

Now down to whats important.

I need to do some work on my Darth Vader chest armour. I plan to have the shoulder bells cut to size and in to a better shape. I also want to add a chain hook to. Once i have that done i can look in to repainting. Once the chest armour is complete i can move on to the helmet. There is a lot of work needed to be done with it. Apart from repainting it i need to add new lenses a new grill to the mouth. and i am thinking of reshaping the collar and get rid of the flare. But i am getting ahead of myself if i can get the chest ready for painting i will be happy. the helmet can wait for now....

I am thinking of doing a superman costume... Now stop laughing... i know i don't have the body for spandex but i think i can pull off the jeans and t-shirt look. So I'm planning on trying to do a Grant Morrison New 52 Action Comics Superman. But with a small twist with the cape. I want to do a 1978 Superman Movie style cape. I prefer the way that cape looks around the neckline. I found a great guide on the web site

The only problem i see is that i will have to learn to sew. But That is all part of the fun... learning new skills and so forth... 

And that takes me to Batman. My brother has a Rubies Batman the Dark Knight costume. I will not lie it does not look great but with a little... who am i kidding . With a lot of work it should be an OK suite. He wants me to re-strap the bodysuit. That is not hard but i have to look into how i am going to paint rubber or Latex or what ever the costume is made out of. I wont paint the whole thing but if i add some different tones and some highlights then it should look a whole lot better... All That and i need to find a replacement Utility Belt. This this going to take more work than i thought...

Now i think it's time to get some rest and i might try to do a little gaming i still haven't played Batman Arkham City let alone Arkham Origins.... I am so ashamed...
